IAPEN INDIA is a Section 8, Not for Profit- Charitable Association started with the aim to raise awareness, to bring out position papers, work closely with organisations both government and non-government with similar goals to address issue of malnutrition both in community setting as well as hospital setting and works to advance the nutritional care of patients and those at risk from malnutrition.

IAPEN India brings together the strengths of its National Chapters, Core Groups as well as International PEN Associations and government bodies to facilitate awareness and understanding of malnutrition in all settings and provides education, advice and resources through conducting of international and national congress, seminars, lectures, webinars, workshops, along with its newsletter- Insight, Journal of Nutrition Research, books, courses, workshops in collaboration with International PEN societies with the core aim to assist the nutritional care of patients. Our office bearers and members- NEC, Chapters, Core Groups- tirelessly work with key national partners to ensure that all individuals who are malnourished, or at risk of malnutrition, in any healthcare or social setting are identified early and those at risk from malnutrition in the wider community.

In order to achieve this, we reach out to all health and social care professionals to adequately train them to understand the importance of good nutritional care and provide support to upgrade the skills appropriate to their role to implement this. This transfer of information for nutritional care between care homes, hospitals and community services may many times be neglected and thereby needs to be improved by the development of integrated nutrition pathways of care. We think only then, the nutritional care delivered would meet an individual’s needs, irrespective of the care setting.

IAPEN India is committed to ensuring that nutrition becomes everyone’s responsibility. We are also working to improve the information available for patients and their caregivers.

The National Chapters as well as Core Groups and activities with support of International PEN Associations, collaborations are found on the IAPEN India website as well as the activities are regularly updated in the Insight- Newsletter of IAPEN India.
